Between 09 and 12 May, the exhibition centre hall and spaces surrounding the atriums on the upper floors of the MOC could boast full occupancy, and the crowds thronging in were correspondingly large.

• 363 exhibitors from 35 countries in total

• Visitor numbers increased,  totaling 16,159

• 5,211 trade visitors from 71 countries (18% growth in trade attendance)

• Resounding media resonance  from all over the world

• A jubilant mood prevalent among the exhibitors

Enormous growth in the number of trade attendees

5,211 trade visitors from 71 countries  travelled  to Munich to find out about the latest innovations, take part in training courses, obtain a general overview of the market and share information with colleagues in the industry. The number of trade visitors increased by 18% in comparison to last year. Delegations from all parts of the world gained an overall impression of the current state of the market and industry while visiting Munich. Accounting for 58 percent of visitors, the international contingent was, once again, very high.

The top 10 visitor countries are, as previously the case, all European ones. Aside from Germany, most of the trade visitors originated from England, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland. However, the number of visitors overall – and in particular those from the Far East, India and South America – reached above-average levels.

The exhibitors were impressed by the intensity and quality of the shop talk exchanged with attendees who were obviously well prepared. “Once again, the trade fair made an excellent impression in 2013 with a high level of internationalism  and a growing number of visitors, allowing it to consolidate its position as the world‘s leading industry trade fair for high-quality consumer electronics,” as Mr. Kurt Hecker, the chair HIGH END SOCIETY, accentuates. “We are delighted by the even keener interest shown by the international media, retailers and distributors. This has allowed HIGH END to reinforce its significance for the global market and to raise the standing it enjoys internationally even further.”

The HIGH END is an international trade meeting point

Not only is the HIGH END a trade fair, it also functions an important forum for communication and the exchange of information at the same time. It is a special event in a class of its own.

“From the perspective of the international press and the companies exhibiting there, the HIGH END is the most important and leading trade fair of its type – with an increasingly important function as a think tank for new products, trends and manufacturer and industry innovations. The positive resonance from the visitors once again confirms  that the HIGH END has evolved into an unmissable industry forum. Over the years, it has become firmly established as the world‘s leading trade fair of its type and allows buyers, retailers, manufacturers, developers, trend-setters and customers to meet in one place at the same time,” as Branko Glisovic, managing director of High End Society Marketing GmbH, concludes.

HIGH END 2013Harmonising tradition and innovation

The combination of traditional  analogue equipment and on the other hand, new technologies based on digital hardware and software, not only polarises the high-quality consumer electronics sector. Mr. Glisovic, managing director of HIGH END SOCIETY Marketing GmbH, states: “With the digitalization of society steadily advancing and the prevalence of the corresponding  applications continuing to increase, our industry has long since had the appropriate answers to offer in the form of excellent products. Munich unites all the different factions, enthralling everyone from analogue fans with their spinning vinyl artworks and fascinating tube creations to aficionados of modern, digital equipment with their ‘incorporeal’ files.”

Kurt Hecker, chairman of the HIGH END SOCIETY summarizes: “Far from being a confrontation between technical playback options, the ubiquitous experience at the HIGH END is one of peaceful coexistence of past and future. Its diversity allows the HIGH END to offer the visitor a unique and comprehensive overview of the entire spectrum our industry provides.”

Keen demand for presentations and workshops

Innumerable specialist presentations, workshops, lectures and demonstrations covering current topics in consumer electronics were held during the entire trade fair. The reception was overwhelming and the events proved very popular. Solutions for multimedia networking have now become established as an integral part of the HIGH END. High-brow contributions to the latest industry insights were presented on the technology stage as well as numerous other venues within the trade fair.

Make a note of this date!

True to the motto “After the HIGH END is before the HIGH END”, the course has already been set for the next HIGH END and the dates have now been fixed: 15 to 18 May 2014 in the MOC Munich (this time, the fair does not begin on Ascension Day, as otherwise it would extend into June).

To conclude, we would like to share several quotes from exhibitors that best provide an authentic picture of this year’s trade fair.

Oliver Hedwig, director of licensing/marketing, blu phase media GmbH (Lichtmond): “For us, the trade fair was a resounding success. The Lichtmond cinema got a great reception, with each show  being  ‘sold out’ right down  to the very last seat. How this will help to generate business models will soon become apparent. Good  discussions with trade colleagues and a lot of praise from visitors and industry experts about the Lichtmond content. Thanks to the trade fair –   fantastic organization!”

Jules Limon, COO, EMT, Pawel, Thales: “Outstanding media liaison and support from the ‘Glisovic’ team.”

Reinhard Schipman, authorized representative at jpc-schallplatten  Versandhandels GmbH: “Great trade fair organization, a helpful  and friendly  trade fair team, a nice  atmosphere. Punctual shuttle service to the hotel, a good variety of exhibitors, and good catering.”

Mario Filsinger, PR, AudioBlock: “I had a lot of fun at the trade fair –   the other exhibitors were amenable, the organization was good and I had the opportunity to meet people at an international level. This really is high-end!”

Ken Ishiwata, brand ambassador, Marantz: “We are delighted by even  more resonance from the international media, retailers and distributors. The HIGH END is, in this regard, continuing to evolve as a network platform and is gaining in significance.”

Matthias Böde, special assignments editor, STEREO, Nitschke-Verlag: “A thoroughly successful show  –   thanks to outstanding organization, as well as the ever  increasing skills of the exhibitors in making a professional impression and in providing a sound which  does justice to the “high-end” sophistication of the trade fair.”

Siegfried Amft, manager, T+A: “We have been content with every HIGH END so far. This time it was even  better, with considerably more retail visitors from Northern Germany, a large number of interested end  customers and even  more visitors who are distributors from Asia and elsewhere.”

Wolfgang John, manager, ELAC Electroacoustic GmbH: “Our conclusion for the HIGH END

2013 is sensationally positive: the organization and the way the trade fair progressed were, once again, highly professional, with our additional listening room  for the premium area receiving an outstanding reception, and the high level of interest in our product innovations exceeding all expectations by far. All in all, we are delighted about the excellent feedback, innumerable new business partners  and an order volume which  breaks all records.”

Friedhelm Licht, team leader at the Panasonic Institute, Panasonic Germany: “A great trade fair with many friendly  visitors, with very open and positive reactions to our products. A thank you for the organizational team, who ensured every exhibitor felt comfortable in the MOC. A resounding success for Panasonic and we are already anticipating the next HIGH END in 2014.”

Xiane Kangela, marketing & sales, mo sound: “Much obliged for the great trade fair. Innumerable international contacts, interested parties and sales. Very friendly  and competent trade fair management, and very friendly  staff overall. We are exhausted after these four days, but our work is only just beginning.”

Sasa Pulyic, technician, ASR Audio Systeme F. Schäfer:  “Very good trade fair organization, both for visitors and exhibitors, is always impressive. The entertainment ‘in between‘ is also appealing. The professionalism of the presentation never fails to outdo itself, as does the harmonious feeling!”

Wilfried Ehrenholz, proprietor & managing director, Dynaudio / NAD: “The results of the HIGH END 2013 outstripped last year‘s, as well as our own,  expectations. The interest and specialist knowledge shown by the end  customers was at a very encouraging level. For the high-quality consumer electronics industry, the HIGH END in Munich  is, by far, the best platform for manufacturers, distributors, specialist retailers and press. The information sessions and productive meetings were able to be held in a relaxed atmosphere.”

Christian Hermeling, managing director, MBL Akustikgeräte GmbH & Co. KG: “This

year‘s HIGH END was very successful for us. We met many of our international partners and customers, as well as making many new contacts. Our showroom proved highly popular among our guests and we gained many new and interested customers. This means our  objective for the trade fair was met. We will be back next year.”

Zee Schlik, founder, PureAudioProject: “For a ‘newcomer’, your decision to have us at your  show  was just the right ‘push into the water’. With you, we crossed the bridge to enter the major audiophile field and we look forward to bringing the joy of the Open  Baffle and Dipole  concept to many ears and hearts of ‘true music  lovers’ and audiophiles.”

Niels Madsen, service & exhibition manager, Gryphon Audio Designs Aps: “The HIGH END Show has once again been the most well-organized exhibition. Everything from advertising, logistics, planning etc. is working just perfectly. Looking forward to coming back in 2014.“

Hans Strassner, managing director, HMS Elektronik  Hans M. Strassner GmbH: “Accolades to the organizers –   10 years of the HIGH END HiFi trade fair in the Munich  MOC which  unfailingly boosts satisfaction and success is by no means a matter of course, but rather the result of work tackled with conviction and skill. Best thanks to the HE team.”

Mansour Managhani, managing director, Audio Reference  GmbH: “The HIGH END 2013 was a very positive experience. Many more interesting people attended the trade fair, as well as those interested in our products, and the growing importance of this meeting point was palpable for the entire industry.”
